I Am "People"

Faith Art Journaling / Visual Journaling

 Faith Art Journaling or Visual Journaling is about the PROCESS. It's less about the finished product and more about time spent in communion with God....co-creating with God.

He is the ultimate creator and he calls us to CO-CREATE with Him.

 

The basis of this could be a way of life. It could be a way of noticing His presence, His hand in everything around me. I can choose to focus on Him instead of focusing on what is around me.

 

It's hard. I flunk out on this ALL the time.

 

And then He sends me a reminder to be present with him in everything. Reminders may come in an article, a blog post, a pin on Pinterest, a line in a movie, something a pastor says, something a friend says......and I am made new again. And again and again. I used to always feel bad that I wasn't "spending time in the Word" enough. (Performance based self worth.)  Now I forgive myself and move on and I focus on the little snatches of time, even if they are only a few minutes here and there. They are moments with Him. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

When I wrote the words on this little card I wasn't happy with how it looked and ended up writing over it several times. I like the layered messy look. (Like my life.) And re-writing it over and over allowed me to meditate on it. 

Taking Time to be Holy....

Today's devotion, "Take Time to be Holy", in Jesus Calling by Sarah Young is so appropriate for the holiday season. Why? Because TIME is what we all seem to have less of during this hussley-bustley time of year! I am off work today with a to-do list a mile long....stressing about what I can and can't get done! :)  I did take some time to finish creating a handmade journal. Now I need to take some time to be Holy.... As Sarah says "The word holy does not mean goody-goody; it means set apart for sacred use. That is what these quiet moments in My Presence are accomplishing within you. As you focus your mind and heart on Me, you are being transformed: re-created into the one I designed you to be. This process requires blocks of time set aside for communion with Me."

A new way to worship...

I'm learning a new way to worship. Faith art journaling, or Faith Visual journaling.  No artistic skill required. Just spending time meditating on scripture or songs he gives me. I love the song by Adam Farrell, "Sing Into My Heart" and I listened to it while journaling the pages below. I used scrapbooking papers, gray and black colored pencil, and various white, black and red pens on a mixed media journal page. A great way to start the day. :)

 

Go Out on a Limb WITH Him

I am soooo loving the Devotional "Jesus Calling"  by Sarah Young right now.  Every day it feels like it was written just for me! Below are pictures of an art journal page in progress I did in response to the December 9th devotional. I used scrapbooking elements, gray and black colored pencil, and various black and pink pens on a gessoed book page. No artistic experience necessary! :)
