Inventive....

I came across a quote by Rick Warren in his book "Better Together". I wrote it down on an index card and added it to my growing stack of inspirational quotes and favorite verses. It says "God wants us to use our gifts in 'inventive' ways (Heb 10:24, The Message) breaking out of the box that limits our concept of Christian service to a small list of traditional roles. He wants us to operate from a perspective that whatever we're gifted to do can be done 'for the glory of God' (1 Cor 10:31, NIV)."

Using my God given creative abilities to worship and bring glory to God is such an exciting prospect to me. The possiblities are endless! I may doodle and draw and paint with an attitude of thankfulness to my creator who made the wonderful, delicious colors and textures of the art materials I use. I may teach an art class  and  in the process reveal to others how the Holy Spirit speaks to me in my creativity. I can get involved in the lives of fellow christians and encourage them to find ways to join their art and creativity with their spiritual walk.
