Waiting for an answer...

This morning I was listening to Gungor's "The Fall". A line in the chorus really resonated with me...it was "Turn your face to me". The first image that came to my mind was God looking away from me, watching over the world.  I prayed, "Yes, Lord, turn your face to me! Turn your face to me!" In my mind I was thinking, "I need you to help me, grant me your favor." Then it occured to me; the song was about God speaking to me, asking me to turn my face to Him!

I can get so distracted with the here and now and what I think I need and what I am planning that I forget to keep my eyes on Him.

When we are waiting for an answer to a prayer or seeking the Holy Spirit's guidance in creating a work, it's easy to start focusing on the horizon instead of the face of our Lord. Sometimes I find myself  imagining the different ways that God will answer my prayer so that I get the answer I want. Maybe He will make "X" happen and then I can "Y" and then "Z" will be the end result. Sometimes he says no. Sometimes He says wait. Sometimes He says something else.

Sometimes He says yes.

Dear Lord, help me to know your answer. Amen.
