I Am a New Creation

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,
he is a new creation.
The old has passed away;
behold, the new has come.
2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV)

God is teaching me about His love. His wonderful, limitless, simply amazing love for me. I thought I learned about His love a long time ago, but it turns out that I had internalized a false belief. For many years I felt that His love for me was conditional and was based on my performance. If you had asked me about it I'm not sure what I would have told you, but in the conversations with myself in my head it was always this: how "good" I have been = how much God loved me. I mean I never ever thought he did NOT love me. I just thought he loved me MORE when I was "good".  Now I know differently.

The key to this transformation in my thoughts and feelings was when I  realized that everything is sacred! Every moment of every day. Every menial task, every monumental accomplishment, I give to him and he is there with me.  When I give him my work, my job, my play, my art, my creativity! And He loves it because:

He loves me!

It's true that when I gave my life to Christ as a young girl, it was at that moment I became a "new creation" in Christ. But I also feel I am a new creation each time I acknowledge His forgiveness and grace in my life. I am renewed. I am made new. Day after day after day. Over and over.

He loves me!
